and last but not least…

Joe Mardesich Field Maintenance Manager

who I would like to give a special thanks to, along with his son Johnny for keeping our fields pristine!

Fields

I also want to acknowlege all of the volunteers who came and helped on Field Maintenance Day. The equipment shed was cleaned out, all of the pitchers mounds were rebuilt, bases were repositioned, batting cage was overhauled and the grass in and around the fields was tidied up. Other leagues would be in awe of our facility!

Volunteers

And again, I can’t stress enough how much every single one of you mean to this league. Without volunteers, this league wouldn’t be here. There’s a lot of stuff happening behind the scenes and all year round that most of you don’t see. But now is the time that you can make a difference.

This year we are having a difficult time finding umpires for our minors and majors games. I’ll give you 3 reasons why you should become an umpire:

  • You get to see the game up close
  • You get paid
  • And, you’re making the calls anyway in the stands so why not get paid to do it?

If you or anyone you know in the community are interested in umpiring a few games, please contact me. You don’t have to have any experience…we’re willing to train!

Season Outlook, what’s in store

So what’s in store for this season? Lot’s of baseball! We’ll be kicking off the season with games starting at 11:15. Come and cheer on the home team (everybody), stay and eat and support the league with our biggest fundraiser sponsored by Outback Steakhouse.

Outback will be serving from 11:30a to 12:30p. If you haven’t already, tickets for the Outback lunch can be purchased at the table near the Snack Shack. But hurry because they’re going fast!

In two weeks (March 31st) mark your calendars for our Picture Day and Pancake Breakfast. You will be receiving your picture order form from your team manager or parent within the next few weeks.

So kids, are you ready to play baseball? Before we start playing though, we need to warm up a bit. And Coach Steve is going to help you with that…let’s give a warm welcome to Coach Steve everybody! [you’re done…take a deep breath]
